The SCBA Young Bankers Division Honors Children of Two CresCom Employees with $2,500 Scholarships

This year the SCBA established two new scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each in honor of late CresCom Bank employees, Katie Skeen and Donna Major

CHARLESTON, S.C., Aug. 21, 2018 – Children of two CresCom Bank employees have been honored with scholarships on behalf of the South Carolina Bankers Association’s (SCBA) Young Bankers Division. The SCBA Young Bankers Division sets up an annual scholarship fund for children of bank employees throughout the state. This year, 57 scholarships were given out in the amount of $1,000 each. Additionally, the SCBA Board of Directors established two $2,500 scholarships in memory of late CresCom Bank employees, Katie Skeen and Donna Major, which were presented to children of two CresCom Bank employees.

Kenneth Turrentine, son of Chardetta Turrentine, received The Katie Skeen Scholarship for $2,500 to Horry Georgetown Technical College and Kaitlyn Coleman, daughter of Angela Coleman, received The Donna Major Scholarship for $2,500 to North Greenville University.

“We are very thankful to the South Carolina Bankers Association for creating these two scholarships in honor of Katie Skeen and Donna Major, while also selecting children of our employees as the recipients,” said David L. Morrow, CEO of CresCom Bank. “CresCom Bank has been a proud part of the South Carolina Bankers Association for many years, and we are grateful to the banking community for showing their continued support of our CresCom family.”

The Young Bankers Division is a very active and integral part of the South Carolina Bankers Association (SCBA) and has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving students over the years. The SCBA understands that many students today often find themselves burdened by significant debt upon graduation. By offering scholarships to children of bank employees, the SCBA seeks to help students pursue higher education while also laying the foundation for the next generation of South Carolina’s leaders.
